After backlash from commuters, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Friday streamlined crowd management at the Peenya Metro station in the city where train operations have been hit since Tuesday. The operations on the northern extension of Bengaluru Metro’s Green Line were affected due to ongoing signalling-related tests between the 3.18-km stretch connecting Nagasandra and Madhavara in the city.

BMRCL recently announced changes to train timings and temporary service suspensions on certain days to facilitate these tests. It will also suspend train operations for the day between Peenya Industry and Nagasandra Metro Stations on August 23 and 30, and September 6, and 11.

Following the curtailment of train services to Nagasandra, Dasarahalli, and Jalahalli on August 20, many passengers took to X complaining of mismanagement by the metro authorities leading to long queues at entry points.

On Friday, passengers said services at the Peenya Industry Metro Station were better. “Better management by bmrcl 👏 As the two entry/exit gates were opened, At peenya industry station. There was no crowd or long queue. Saw a lot staff present to assist. Let’s us appreciate namma metro for their work 👏👏😊 @OfficialBMRCL,” wrote Madhusudhan, an X user.

With four more days of disruption in train services, BMRCL will open four additional Automated Fare Collection (AFC) gates at the entry and exit points of the Peenya Industry Metro Station. Additionally, one more luggage scanner will be installed to improve passenger convenience during this period, BMRCL officials said.

Amid the mainline testing, the last train from Nagasandra to Peenya Industry will depart at 10 pm, earlier than the usual 11.05 pm, on Saturday, August 24. The next day the first train from Nagasandra will start an hour late at 6 am.

The last train from Peenya Industry to Silk Institute will operate until 11.12 pm on August 24, and services from Peenya Industry will begin as usual at 5 am on August 25.
