On the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava on November 1, ‘Nagaraa’ metered autorickshaw mobile application formally launched NAMMA Code, also known as Nagaraa Auto Multi Modal Access Code, that allows customers to use a single one-time password (OTP) or code to access multiple trips. The single code of the ride-hailing app will be active throughout the day.

Until now, the application offered different codes for trips.

Backed by Agnibu Technologies and Brand Pride Mobility Pvt Ltd, Nagaraa metered autorickshaw allows drivers to discover customers both digitally and on-street to fulfill trips at the regulatory approved fares.

Niranjanardhya N, CEO of Brand Pride Mobility, said that customers no longer need to repeatedly provide details of their pick-up location and can hail a Nagaraa-metered autorickshaw using the same code to travel to multiple destinations. “Drivers can optimise their schedules as they’re able to identify customers faster, minimising idle time and increasing their daily rides,” he said.

How it works

The NAMMA code can be generated via Nagaraa auto’s WhatsApp chatbot feature by sending ‘Hi’ to 9620020042. It provides customers with a four-digit code valid until midnight of the same day. Once issued, users can send their pick-up location for the first time, following which the details of the driver and autorickshaw will be sent to the customer. The customer can then use the same code to hail Nagaraa autorickshaw from different locations.

Integration with Bengaluru metro

Niranjanardhya N also said that integration with the Bengaluru metro was also on the cards. “We are in talks with… the revenue departments of BMRCL (Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd). They have expressed optimism about integrating our services and the NAMMA code model into Namma Metro’s chatbot feature. We still have to hold discussions with the managing director and finalise the decision on integration. If successful, we will sign an MoU in the coming days,” he said.

Brand Pride Mobility CEO explained that once integrated, metro passengers will have an option in the chatbot to book Nagaraa metered auto when they purchase metro tickets. Passengers can use the code and commute to their destination. So far, Nagaraa has onboarded around 6,200 auto drivers and has completed 7,238 trips in Bengaluru.

The average trip length has been 4.61 km with an average earning per trip amounting to Rs 118.
