‘Leave at least 2 hours ahead of schedule’: Bengaluru traffic police’s advisory for airport-bound travellers amid Hebbal flyover snarls
The Bengaluru traffic police advisory came amid vehicular jams near the Hebbal flyover due to the ongoing infrastructure works.

The Bengaluru traffic police have advised travellers moving towards the Bengaluru International Airport to leave at least two hours ahead of the scheduled flights in view of the heavy traffic around the Hebbal flyover due to major infrastructure works.
“On account of infrastructure work on the Hebbal flyover and due to the Bengaluru Metro rail work, the traffic flow at the flyover is slow during the peak hours. Due to this situation, vehicles traveling to the airport cannot reach on time; so, it is advised that vehicles going to the airport should leave at least two hours ahead of a scheduled flight,” the traffic police said Thursday.
The infrastructure work cited by the traffic police include broadening of the flyover arm on the approach from K R Puram to Hebbal and near Hebbal police station by the Bengaluru Development Authority in addition to Bengaluru Metro rail works from Kempapura Cross to Hebbal junction, at Kodigehalli junction, and at Byatarayanapura junction.
The traffic police have advised taking alternate routes to avoid the traffic jams at peak hours.
The routes to be used by vehicles moving towards Airport from KR Puram side are:
Take a right turn on Outer Ring Road and take Hennur Cross-Bagalur Road Airport Alternate Road to Airport.
Take a right turn near Nagawara Junction on Horwarthula Road and take a right turn via Thanisandra-Hegadenagar Main Road, Belli Bridge-Rewa Junction and take a right turn via Bagalur Road Airport Alternate Road to the airport.
Routes to be used by vehicles coming towards the city from KR Puram side:
Vehicles plying on the outer ring road can access towards the city via the Angarajapuram flyover of IOC-Mukunda Theater Road.
Nagawara and Tannery roads are accessible towards the city.
Routes to be used by heavy and medium goods vehicles coming towards the city from Bangalore-Bellary Road:
Vehicles coming from Bangalore-Bellary road will take a left turn near Rani Cross, Devanahalli and proceed towards Hoskote, Kolar.
Vehicles coming from Bangalore-Ballari road will take a left turn near Doddaballapura cross at Devanahalli and proceed towards Hoskote, Kolar.
Vehicles coming from Bangalore-Ballari road take a left turn at Vidyanagar Cross and proceed towards the city via Razak Palya-Bagalore via Hennur-KR Puram route.
Vehicles coming towards the city from Doddaballapur side take a right turn near Rajanukunte and proceed towards Nelamangala.
