Zero tolerance for moral policing, hate politics: Siddaramaiah
“There is no question of compromising on the issue of protecting the harmony and secular heritage of Karnataka… hate politics will not be tolerated and the environment of fear will be eradicated,” Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said.

Asserting that the Congress government will not tolerate moral policing and hate politics, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said that his government will not allow anyone to take law into their own hands.
Siddaramaiah met about 40 writers and intellectuals of Karnataka under the aegis of Samaana Manaskara Okkoota, a forum for like-minded people, at his official residence in Bengaluru on Monday.
“There is no question of compromising on the issue of protecting the harmony and secular heritage of Karnataka… hate politics will not be tolerated and the environment of fear will be eradicated,” he said.
Chief minister Siddaramaiah said that he has already issued stern instructions to the state Director General of Police to take strict action against moral policing, slanderous trolls and those who threaten writers. He also assured to withdraw “false” cases against leaders of farmers, labourers and Dalits, intellectuals and writers.
Between 2013 and 2018, Siddaramaiah as then CM had ordered to drop 176 cases against nearly 1,600 activists of the SDPI and PFI, most of them linked to violating prohibitory orders.
Samaana Manaskara Okkoota in a representation to the CM demanded not to implement the National Education Policy (NEP). The forum also sought to strengthen the government run universities in the state.
Siddaramaiah said, “Education sector will not be allowed to be adulterated in the name of new education policy. A separate meeting will be convened in this regard once again to discuss it comprehensively and take strict and definite decisions. The act of polluting children’s minds through texts and lessons cannot be condoned.”
