Two migrant labourers were burnt alive after a fire broke out at an under-construction building in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The victims have been identified as Uday Bhanu, 40, from Uttar Pradesh and Roshan, 23, from Bihar. The fire broke out around 11.10 am at a three-story under-construction residential building owned by contractor and engineer Satish in the Shivani Green Layout.

According to the Madanayakanahalli police, wood and electrification works were being carried out when the fire broke out. A police officer said, “There were a lot of chemicals in the building and we suspect that may have led to the fire.”

One worker managed to escape the blaze by climbing onto a water tanker and was rescued without injuries. The firemen managed to douse the flame and the Madanayakanahalli police have initiated a case.
