BJP Parliamentary Board member B S Yediyurappa alleged that developmental works in Karnataka have taken a hit due to the implementation of guarantee schemes. Responding to media queries at a news conference Sunday, the former chief minister also flayed the Siddaramaiah government for “releasing water to Tamil Nadu”. "These guarantee schemes are temporary. Developmental works are important and have taken a hit. Irrigation projects and other developmental activities are completely stopped. They (Congress) are just talking about guarantees and developmental work has come to a standstill," he said, alleging that works for not even a single kilometre of new roads have been taken up since the Congress came to power. He said that after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, BJP leaders will travel to all districts of the state and highlight the Congress government’s failures. Meetings of party workers will be held to motivate them to ensure the success of the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Yediyurappa said. Yediyurappa also accused the Siddaramaiah government of releasing water to Tamil Nadu in a clandestine manner. "This is condemnable. Even when KRS dam is getting emptied, they are releasing water to Tamil Nadu," he said, adding that the BJP has already launched a campaign against the state government’s move. Responding to queries on the BJP’s alliance with the JD(S) for the Lok Sabha polls, he said that the discussions were still in the preliminary stages and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will take a final decision about the issue. "We will abide by the decision of the high command," he said.
