Regular QR code tickets and smart cards will also remain valid for travel from these stations. (File Photo)The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Friday announced extended services on the Purple and Green Lines for New Year’s Eve. The last metro will depart from all terminal stations at 2:00 am on January 1, while the final train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station (Majestic) will leave at 2:40 am.
Trains will operate every 10 minutes from 11:00 pm on December 31 until the end of the extended service period. However, due to anticipated crowd gatherings on MG Road, the MG Road Metro Station will be closed for entry and exit from 11:00 pm. Commuters can instead use the nearby Trinity and Cubbon Park Metro Stations, the BMRCL said.
Passengers traveling after 11:00 pm from Trinity or Cubbon Park Metro Stations have been advised to purchase a return journey paper ticket priced at Rs 50, available in advance at all metro stations starting 8:00 am on December 31, 2024. Regular QR code tickets and smart cards will also remain valid for travel from these stations.
To ensure smooth operations and avoid overcrowding, BMRCL has issued the following advisory:
• Passengers heading towards Whitefield and Silk Institute have been requested to board from Trinity Metro Station.
• Passengers traveling towards Challaghatta and Madavara should use Cubbon Park Metro Station.
BMRCL urged passengers to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with the metro staff for a safe and hassle-free journey.
