Bengaluru is the world’s second-largest hub for the talent pool working in Artificial Intelligence (AI), according to the Karnataka Global Capability Center (GCC) Landscape Report 2024 released on Monday.
“Bengaluru is home to more than 25% of India’s digital talent of more than 3.25 lakh professionals. Bengaluru is the world’s second-largest hub of AI talent pool. It is now being recognized as a Global AI hub,” the report reads.
On GCCs in Bengaluru, the report noted that 60 per cent of the Forbes 2000 global companies who have GCCs in India have their centres set up in Bengaluru. The report was released by IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge.
The report has identified application development and maintenance, digital services, IT consulting, IT support, and IT infrastructure among the new technologies having future potential. It also recommended tapping in on technology and digital skills with high demand such as data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and the internet of things, among others.
“Our analysis indicates Karnataka’s potential to become a premier GCC hub, potentially accommodating over 15% of Forbes enterprises. By the year 2030, Karnataka could host around 330 Forbes 2000 enterprises,” according to the report.
During the event, Kharge said the state government would soon come out with a GCC policy to attract more companies to set up their centres in Karnataka.
