In the labyrinth of gangland murders in the Silicon City of Bengaluru, no killing is unconnected to another, especially when they occur at the top of the gangland food chain, according to people familiar with the organised crime scene in the city.
Since the Covid shutdown in 2020, a series of interconnected murders have been linked to the machete-wielding Bengaluru gangland in what seems to be a power struggle for dominance over real estate, gambling and extortion activities but dismissed by police as a low-intensity conflict for domination over certain areas in the city.
Lurking in the shadows of the recent gang murders in Bengaluru is the political patronage enjoyed by gangsters, in the form of protection from police action for gambling, real-estate litigation and the offer of lucrative civil contracts for construction, legal betting activities and liquor vending. Talking about the initiatives taken by the state government to contain air pollution, the Minister said, “Some of the key initiatives our government is working on include the target of planting 5 crore trees annually in Karnataka. Already, we have planted over 3 crore saplings in three-and-a-half months. We are in the process of regulating the highly polluting industries, especially the ones from the red category, which have a propensity to contribute towards the further deterioration of existing conditions.” Read More

One of the main takeaways that the Indian Space Research Organisation’s scientists provided after the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft’s lander module safely hit the moon’s surface was that the failure of the Chandrayaan 2 mission in 2019 was really the stepping stone to Wednesday’s success.
There were multiple accounts provided by ISRO scientists of the amount of effort that was put into the Chandrayaan-3 mission to ensure that the mistakes in the Chandrayaan-2 mission are not repeated and to reduce the probability of failure to the minimum. Scientists recounted that there were moments of criticism and ridicule that had to be overcome for success. Read more
