Ahead of Karnataka polls, BBMP urges students, RWAs to vote in large numbers
The BBMP head also requested the RWAs to utilise social media platforms and other modes of communication to reach out to a larger audience to spread the message about the importance of voting.

In order to ensure maximum polling in the upcoming Assembly election, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Tuesday appealed to the students and resident welfare associations (RWA) to vote in large numbers.
BBMP Chief Commissioner and District Electoral Officer Tushar Giri Nath on Monday met the students of Krupanidhi Group of Educational Institutions on Sarjapura road. The BBMP later in a statement said the students are first time voters. The meeting was a part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.
The SVEEP campaign is a part of the awareness initiative of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to sensitise voters, especially those working in the IT and BT companies and others industries, and persuade them to take part in the election process in the form of maximum voting.
Nath said, “More informed, conscientious and proactive voters is the mainstay of the electoral process. Students should come out and vote in large numbers in the interest of democracy.”
He added, “We have held several rounds of discussions with the RWAs both virtually as well as through open discussions regarding the importance of voting through SVEEP activities. I would like to request the RWAs to take active measures to create awareness among the residents by conducting meetings, seminars and workshops in their localities to educate residents about the voting process and its significance by following the model code of conduct and other prevailing law of the land. You can organise awareness drives, distribute pamphlets, put up posters/creatives and play audio jingles/videos that are shared with all resident welfare association leaders.”
The BBMP head also requested the RWAs to utilise social media platforms and other modes of communication to reach out to a larger audience to spread the message about the importance of voting. Nath also urged the voters to stay in the city on the day of voting.
“Additionally, you can also encourage your community members to actively participate in the electoral process by informing them about the voting process and providing them with the necessary information like location of polling stations, basic facilities provided in polling stations, information provided online by Election Commission of India (ECI) through voter helpline and other apps,” Nath said.
