Activists demand internal reservation during Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s budget speech, arrested
Marshals took those who raised slogans out of the visitors’ gallery and handed them over to the Vidhana Soudha police.

The Bengaluru police have arrested seven quota activists for allegedly raising slogans from the visitors’ gallery in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly while Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was presenting the state budget on Friday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vijayakumar A, Suresh S V, Venugopal N, Vijayashekar S S, Srinivas S V, Sathyendra Kumar and Rajarathnam M – all hailing from different parts of Bengaluru.
When CM Siddaramaiah was reading out the budget speech, the accused started demanding the implementation of the internal reservation among Scheduled Caste groups as suggested by the Sadashiva Commission. For a moment, Siddaramaiah also stopped his speech. However, marshals soon took those who raised slogans out of the gallery and handed them over to the Vidhana Soudha police.
A case was lodged based on a complaint filed by Marshal Jayakrishna H S. The case has been registered under Sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 189(2) (unlawful assembly), 190 (every member part of unlawful assembly and the act), and 292 (public nuisance) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
