‘When I call Manmohan weak PM,I don’t refer to his biceps’

He said: “Manmohan Singhji Gujarat na vevai che. Vevai maate kharab na bolaye. Jyare ame emne nabla pradhan mantri kahiye chhe emna biceps ketla che ena par nathi keta. Nabla shashan ane nirnay shakti maate kahiye chhe (Manmohan Singh is the “Vevai” of Gujarat. One does not speak ill of one’s daughter’s in-laws. When we call him weak we are not referring to his biceps,but because he is weak in decision making.)”

In Gujarati,Vevai means a child’s in-laws. Modi was making an oblique reference as the Prime Minister’s daughter is married to a Gujarat Cadre IPS officer.

Modi also asked Sonia Gandhi to come to Gujarat and stay back for a few days to look at the development that has taken place in the state.

“Soniaji aa wakhate gujarat ma aavao to thoda divas rokai jajo. Gujarat na rastao,gaamo ni connectivity ma eva kaam thaya che je Rae Bareli ma pan na thaya hoye (Soniaji,please come to Gujarat and stay back for sometime to see for yourself the kind of work done by the state to develop roads and rural connectivity. It’s better than Rae Bareli),” he said.

He told the large gathering that the UPA government had promised 1.5 crore jobs. He asked the people: “How many of you have got a job?” He then himself answered the question. “Not a single one of you despite the fact that the minister of state for railways,minister of state for petroleum and the Union textile minister are fighting the elections from here. Have they given you jobs?” he asked.
