The Vadodara City Police cordoned off the collectorate complex, ordering a halt of work, while teams of the Akota police station, Special Operations Group, Crime Branch, and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), along with the dog squad, conducted an intensive search. After nearly three hours, no suspicious object was found and the main offices were cleared to resume functioning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Manjita Vanzara said, “The office of the District Collector was evacuated and a thorough check conducted inside as well as in the periphery of the complex. No suspicious object was found anywhere and so they were given clearance to resume the work… The email had been received at 6 am in the morning and the probe is on to ascertain if there is any connection with the threats received in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.”
Even after the clearance, police restricted the entry of applicants to the premises, with BDDS and dog squad personnel continuing to check areas within the complex for possible explosives or suspicious items.
