Foetus found in gutter in Sardarnagar
AHMEDABAD: THE city police found a foetus dumped in a gutter in Jai Shiv Shakti Ni Chali slum area in Sardarnagar on Saturday. A complaint has been registered under Section 318 of the IPC (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) and policemen are looking for the unidentified accused.
A resident of the slum,Bhikiben, spotted the foetus in the gutter close to her house and alerted the police. Sardarnagar police Sub Inspector G N Rathod, who is investigating the case, said,It seems to be a case of illegal termination of pregnancy. The foetus is about four-month-old and we are awaiting its post mortem report for ascertaining its sex and the actual reason why it was aborted.
Rathod added,Though we are yet to establish it,we cannot rule out the possibility of it being a female foetus, aborted after an illegal sex-determination test.
