Three killed as water sweeps away car in flooded causeway in Botad

All the three deceased were associated with the Sarangpur temple of Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS).

Three persons were killed after the car they were travelling in was swept away in flood water on a causeway in Ranpur taluka of Botad district late on Sunday night. All the three deceased were associated with the Sarangpur temple of Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS).

The deceased were idenified as Krishna Pandya (80), Swami Shantcharitdas (35) and Prabudhha Kachhiya (9).

According to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Barwala, Sanjay Chaudhari, the car of the deceased had four other occupants. The causeway in Ranput taluka near Godhavata village was flooded as the catchment area of the region witnessed sudden heavy rainfall.

A note from BAPS stated that the seven people were returning to Sarangpur temple in Botad after visiting Bochasan in Anand district. While four of them could come out of the vehicle, the bodies of Krishna and Prabudhha were recovered after the car was fished out from the water.

Swami Shantcharitdas had gone missing and his body was recovered on Monday. Prabudhha’s father Divyesh Kachhiya was driving the car and is one of the four survivors.

SDM Chaudhari said that the bodies were taken to a community health centre in Barwala for post-mortem examination.
