State govt employees, pensioners to get benefits of AB-PMJAY

A government release stated that employees and pensioners, who cannot draw the benefits of AB-PMJAY scheme, will be eligible for medical facilities they were already getting.

Gujarat government on Wednesday decided to cover all its employees and pensioners under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), a scheme, which provides medical insurance of Rs 10 lakh for the entire family of a card-holder.

The decision in this regard was taken by the state cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, in a meeting Wednesday. The employees and pensioners will be able to draw benefits of the AB-PMJAY, under a new scheme floated by the state government — Gujarat Karmayogi Swasthya Suraksha Yojana — stated an official release. It will cover 4.2 lakh employees and 2.2 lakh pensioners of the state government, and cause a financial burdern of Rs 303 crore on the state government, it added.

A government release stated that employees and pensioners, who cannot draw the benefits of AB-PMJAY scheme, will be eligible for medical facilities they were already getting. Also, they will continue to get a monthly medical allowance of Rs 1,000.

The scheme will not be applicable to fix-pay employees of the state government as they get benefits under Karmayogi Card, and pensioners above the age of 70 since they are covered under the Vay Vandana scheme.
