The BJP in the state launched an ambitious drive on Monday to enrol 5 lakh youngsters in its Yuva Morcha within a period of eight days

The BJP in the state launched an ambitious drive on Monday to enrol 5 lakh youngsters in its Yuva Morcha within a period of eight days. A dedicated website, special email and social networking accounts have been created to achieve the target with the slogan “Join BJYM,Join NaMo”.

The Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) began the drive simultaneously at all 40,000 voting booths across 26 districts. However, this time, the young BJP leaders, following Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s instructions, are also banking heavily on social networking and micro-blogging sites to achieve the target. Modi, who was elevated as chairman of the BJP’s election campaign committee in June, has been emphasizing on wooing young voters, who form the biggest base, for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. “We aim at enrolling 5 lakh youths in eight days, beginning Monday,” said BJYM general secretary Hitesh Patel. “This is the biggest enrolment drive ever conducted by any political party in India,” he said. The drive in state is part of BJP’s nationwide campaign to enrol 1 crore youths in one month. The national campaign began on July 23.

The BJYM believes that the “charismatic” personality of Modi can be the biggest attraction for youths to join the BJP. The BJYM leaders said a team of as many 600 youths had been roped in to run the online enrolment campaign.
