Gajubha Jilubha Rathod (50) died during treatment after the incident in the guard house at Gate 3 of the CP office. A jawan of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) died hours after an allegedly self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest with his service rifle, while on duty at the office of the Commissioner of Police in Gujarat’s Rajkot city, on Friday.

The incident took place at 3:30 am on Friday. Hearing the gunshot, other personnel rushed to the spot to see Rathod bleeding and sent him to the Rajkot Civil Hospital by ambulance.
However, he succumbed during treatment at 5:50 am, according to the medico-legal case (MLC) filed at the hospital.
The Police Station Officer (PSO) of Pradyumannagar police station said that Rathod was a resident of SRP camp at Ghanteshwar in Rajkot. An Accidental Death (AD) report was filed in the case and investigation is underway.
