SIT to hand over Ishrat case to CBI today

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is expected to formally hand over the Ishrat Jahan encounter case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday. SIT chief R R Verma will visit Ahmedabad tomorrow to hand over the case to a CBI team,sources said. The SIT would hand over the case papers,including the testimonies,forensic reports and the investigation progress reports,they added. Ishrat,Pranesh alias Javed Pillai,Jisan Johar and Amzad Ali Rana were killed in an alleged fake encounter by the police the outskirts of Ahmedabad on June 15,2004.
