A simple system has been ensured so that the voters themselves can also verify the details posted district-wise. If the name of the voter is in the ASD (absent, shifted, dead) list, then they can submit the enumeration form to the BLO by December 14. So that the name of the voter can be published in the draft electoral list.
WITH the second extension in deadline of enumeration of electors under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign from December 11 to 14 to submit forms and December 19 for draft roll to be published from earlier deadline of December 16, the Gujarat authorities claimed that this will give ‘additional’ time to find the ‘untraceable’ voters.
On Thursday, the data shared by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) stated that all 33 districts of the state have completed 100 per cent of the enumeration work. Thus, 100 per cent of the verification work has been completed in a total of 182 assembly constituencies of the state.
However, with the additional time in hand now, the officials stated that this will help them trace and map voters with the old list so that they are not required to submit documents.
“This will allow us for a more comprehensive re-checking. We have already started uploading the list of dead, absent, duplicate and missing voters on the website and sharing the list with the political parties and their Booth Level Agents (BLAs). Now, we will start sharing the list name wise also. All the stakeholders working in the system are satisfied with the process,” a senior government official told The Indian Express.
The authorities at the Chief Election Office stated that since the last 10 days, the list of absent, migrated, deceased or duplicate voters for each booth has been shared with the booth agents.
On Thursday, in the last stage of the enumeration phase, it was noticed that 18,03,730 deceased voters were included in the electoral list. While 10,02,685 voters were found absent from their addresses, along with this, it has been noticed that 40,34,712 more voters have migrated permanently and 3,76,410 voters have been found to be repeated.
