Resident docs’ stipend revised,physiotherapy students to get highest raise

The stipend of the first-year resident doctors has been revised to Rs 20,000 from Rs 11,000. From the current academic year,the second-year residents will receive Rs 20,500,the third-year residents Rs 21,000 and the fourth-year residents will receive Rs 21,500 per month.

The scale of the stipend for senior resident doctors will now be Rs 22,000 for the first- year students,Rs 23,000 for the second year and Rs 24,000 for the third-year students. The stipend for dental students has also been raised and made at par with the revised stipend scale for resident doctors. Diploma students will now receive Rs 15,000. Their bar has been increased from 70 percent of 11,000 to 80 percent of Rs 20,000.

State Health Secretary,Ravi Saxena,said,“The scale has been revised and made at par with the other states with physiotherapy and diploma students to receive the highest raise among the lot.”

The resident doctors were on strike from July 21 July to the August 3. The strike was called off after a written assurance was given by the state government that all their demands would be considered.

Moreover,the de-registration of over 40 resident doctors was reversed earlier this month.
