Rally held against jailed AAP MLA in Gujarat’s Narmada district, strict action sought
Dediapada MLA Chaitar Vasava was arrested on Saturday after a BJP leader alleged that the legislator outraged the modesty of a panchayat president during a taluka-level meeting

A few days after AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava was arrested following a complaint filed by BJP leader Sanjay Vasava, alleging that he outraged the modesty of a panchayat president during a taluka-level meeting, around a hundred women took out a rally in Dediapada town of Narmada district seeking strict punishment for the legislator.
The women also submitted a memorandum to the Prant Officer of Dediapada, Chaitar’s constituency, in this regard.
The rally, comprising women of Sagbara and Dediapada talukas, was held under the leadership of Sanjay Vasava and the woman panchayat president on Wednesday afternoon.
On July 5, Narmada district police had arrested Chaitar Vasava following a complaint by Sanjay Vasava, President of Dediapada Taluka Panchayat, accusing the legislator of allegedly threatening a woman leader, using abusive language towards her, outraging her modesty, among other charges. The AAP MLA is in judicial custody at Vadodara Central Jail.
Wednesday’s rally began with the women gathering at a temple, holding placards and banners and chanting slogans against Chaitar Vasava.
The rally culminated at Prant office, covering a distance of over one-and-a-half kilometre in police presence.
The women leaders, including the panchayat president, handed over a memorandum to Prant officer D R Sangada.
Sanjay Vasava told The Indian Express, “The rally was non-political and over a hundred women from Dediapada and Sagbara taluka attended it. The women of both the talukas were angry with Chaitar Vasava, and they had voluntarily taken out a rally. The victim was also present at the rally. The women had demanded strict legal action against Chaitar Vasava.”
