Rajkot Crime Branch appeals to eyewitnesses to share details

Police appealed to the public to join the investigation in the case as witnesses.

The Rajkot Crime Branch on Saturday made a public appeal to those who witnessed the TRP Game Zone fire on May 25 to come forward and share details about the incident. Nine people, including four officers of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), have so far been arrested in the incident, which killed 27.

The Crime Branch shared numbers of Deputy Police Commissioner (crime) Bharat Basiya and other officers for people to share information they may have.

Police appealed to the public to join the investigation in the case as witnesses.

“The eyewitness accounts of those who were inside the TRP Game Zone during this incident and citizens who saw that incident (unfold) can be of help in the investigation of this crime. Therefore, we, the investigators, hereby make this public appeal and request the citizens who witnessed the said incident first hand to contact the following officers and share information about the incident,” the release stated.

The release listed contact numbers of deputy commissioner of police (crime) Bharat Basiya (mobile number: 9033690990), “B” Division police inspector SM Jadeja (9714900997), police sub-inspector (LCB zone-2) RH Zala (9825855350), and Crime Branch police sub-inspector DC Sakariya (8000040050).

The release also enlisted contact numbers of Crime Branch police station (0281 2444165), Rajkot Taluka police station (0281 2563340) and Rajkot city police control room (0281 2457777 and 100).

Basiya is heading a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by Rajkot Police Commissioner for probing the criminal case.
