Prajapati killing: CBI team meets Udaipur cops,quizzes marble lobby

Prajapati,along with Sohrabuddin Sheikh,reportedly ran extortion racket in Udaipur collecting money from the marble traders

A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) collected documents from the Udaipur police and questioned the marble traders’ lobby in connection with the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case,agency sources said on Sunday.

Prajapati,along with Sohrabuddin Sheikh,reportedly ran extortion racket in Udaipur collecting money from the marble traders.

Agency sources said the CBI team spoke to the Udaipur police in connection with Tulsiram’s term in Udaipur jail. The team has asked Udaipur police to furnish the case papers related to the murder of Hamid Lala,a local gangster,in which Tulsiram was booked.

CBI sources added that Gujarat CID (Crime) recently handed over some crucial documents related to the Tulsiram encounter case that were previously not given to them. DySP R K Patel,who was previously investigating the case,handed over copies of the documents relating to Tulsiram’s escape from the custody of Udaipur police at Palanpur railway station in Banaskantha two days ahead of the encounter. According to the complaint filed by Udaipur police with their Railway counterparts,

Tulsiram had fled from their custody while being taken back to Rajasthan after a hearing in Gujarat in some other case.

The Udaipur police later lodged a complaint with the Railway Police,which conducted a preliminary investigation and handed over a report of the incident to Gujarat Police.
