Poll code violation: 4 DGVCL officials transferred after Congress leader’s complaint

The Congress leader filed the poll code violation complaint with the Election Department and DGVCL Managing Director Yogesh Chaudhary. He also shared photos of Mukesh Dalal addressing the DGVCL officials and party workers. Barot further alleged that Dalal addressed them and sought their support.

After receiving the complaint, as per people in the know, officials concerned coordinated with the model code of conduct committee of Surat election office to verify the allegations. The committee members then carried out an investigation.

A top official of DGVCL on condition of anonymity told The Indian Express, “The model code of conduct committee has probed into the complaint and informed us to take action. So we acted accordingly and transferred the officials.”

Following Chaudhary’s decision on Friday, Nirav Desai was transferred to the Bharuch division. Others who have been transferred are Navin Patel (Assistant Electrical engineer) who has been transferred from Bardoli to Bamania division, Praveen Patel who has been shifted from Bardoli division to Areth division, and Sharad Nhavi who has been transferred from Bardoli to Vyara in Tapi.

Speaking with The Indian Express, Barot said, “We are not satisfied with the transfer of these officials. We want them to be suspended. Besides, action has been taken against four officials only… what about others? We will make representation to the Surat district election officer on Monday and will give a memorandum demanding suspension of Nirav Desai, as he is also a union leader with a union of DGVCL.”
