An official release stated that the state function of the event was held at Modhera Sun Temple in Modhera of Mehsana district in which Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Sports Harsh Sanghavi were present.

The Gujarat government Monday found its way to the Guinness Book of Records for holding collective Surya Namaskar events at 108 places in the state with participation from more than 50,000 people.
An official release stated that the state function of the event was held at Modhera Sun Temple in Modhera of Mehsana district in which Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Sports Harsh Sanghavi were present. The event was organised by the Gujarat State Yoga Board.
“Gujarat welcomed 2024 with a remarkable feat – setting a Guinness World Record for the most people performing Surya Namaskar simultaneously at 108 venues! As we all know, the number 108 holds a special significance in our culture. The venues also include the iconic Modhera Sun Temple, where several people joined,” the PM said in his post on ‘X’, formerly Twitter.

“This is indeed a true testament to our commitment to Yoga and our cultural heritage. I also urge you all to make Surya Namaskar a part of your daily routine. The benefits are immense,” the Prime Minister further said.
In the run-up to the event, the Department of Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities had run a campaign of Surya Namaskar in the entire state at the levels of village, taluka, city and district levels (PLS REMOVE) for a month.
Winners from the campaigns were the participants in the state-level function at Modhera. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also awarded prizes to the winners.
