Plumber held for molesting British citizen

The Satellite police arrested a plumber late on Tuesday following a molestation complaint lodged by a 23-year-old British citizen.

The Satellite police arrested a plumber late on Tuesday following a molestation complaint lodged by a 23-year-old British citizen.

The victim claimed that the accused,Pragnesh Chhatrala (27),molested her when he came to repair the bathroom of her PG accommodation in Umiyavijay Society of the Satellite area on Monday.

The police said the victim,who had arrived

in Ahmedabad last month,is doing a research study with a city-based NGO. The police have booked the accused under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to the complaint,the victim was alone at home when Chhatrala came to repair the bathroom. The victim couldn’t converse with Chhatrala,who allegedly took advantage and molested her.

He fled from the scene when the girl screamed to alert the neighbours. Later,the girl called her colleagues from the NGO to seek help to file a police complaint.

Investigating Officer M H Vasani said: “The girl had the mobile number of the plumber and roughly knew his address. We laid a trap and asked him to come for repairing work at a certain place. Chhatrala was arrested on the spot when the girl identified him.”

The police said that two students from H L College were called to talk to the victim and translate the incident in Gujarati while the complaint was being lodged.
