New Gandhi biography to hit stands today

A new biography entitled “The Man before The Mahatma”,written by a Gandhian scholar who teaches law at West Virginia University in the US,is set to be launched in India on Tuesday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

A new biography entitled “The Man before The Mahatma”,written by a Gandhian scholar who teaches law at West Virginia University in the US,is set to be launched in India on Tuesday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The book chronicles Gandhi’s life as a lawyer in South Africa that transformed the “shy and timid” young man into “Mahatma”.

In an email interaction with The Indian Express,the books author,Charles Di Salvo,said “Gandhi eventually found his confidence in South Africa that he could also speak to crowds of thousands for hours”.

Di Salvo also teaches civil disobedience at the US university.

The book is being published in India by Random House India.
