There is a need to bring freedom fighter and educationist Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya’s thoughts to life in the present time, said former University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Chancellor Professor Dhirendra Pal Singh on Wednesday.
Singh was addressing an event held to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya at the Central University of Gujarat.
“Bharat Ratna Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, a great social reformer and ideal vice-chancellor, always emphasised on the holistic development of students. He stressed the comprehensive development of students, and his thoughts and philosophy remain relevant even today,” he said.
“He advocated setting up universities which focused on character building,” Professor SIngh said.
