It should work for the weaker and deprived sections of society based on forensic evidence and should provide impartial and speedy justice… This should be your aim,” said President Droupadi Murmu at the 3rd convocation of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar on Friday.
Addressing the students, she said, “You will have an important part to play in the justice delivery system. You should make sure justice reaches the last person and that nobody is deprived due to financial limitations.”
A total of 1,562 students were awarded degrees at the university’s third convocation. These included 70 foreign students from 15 countries.
Speaking on the rising job opportunities for forensic experts, and the demand created by the new criminal laws, the President said, “The demand for forensic experts is rising. This university was set up to meet that need. More employment opportunities are opening up and new doors will open for you.”
“Forensic facilities will be upgraded in all states,” the President also said.
Speaking on the criminal justice system staying ahead of criminals, she said, “There is a rise of digital technology and especially artificial intelligence. While the capabilities of forensic experts is increasing, on the other hand, there are newer ways to commit crimes. It is only by staying a step ahead of these criminals will the policing, prosecution and criminal justice delivery system will be able to control crimes.”
