Naroda patiya decision deferred till August 29

The special trial court for the 2002 Naroda Patiya massacre case deferred the judgment in the case till August 29 on Saturday.

The special trial court for the 2002 Naroda Patiya massacre case deferred the judgment in the case till August 29 on Saturday. The court had tentatively declared June 30 as the date of judgment. The special court presided over by Additional Principal Sessions Judge Dr Jyotsana Yagnik also issued non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against three accused persons who were not present before the court.

The trial judge issued NBWs against Rajesh Parmar,Suresh alias Sehjad Netalkar and Ramesh Didawala. However Parmar and Didawala’s NBWs were cancelled later on as they appeared before the court,according to Special Assistant Public Prosecutor Gaurang Vyas.

According to Vyas,the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) for the case has been ordered to arrest Netalkar and produce him before the court by July 2.

A total of 61 persons have been accused including BJP MLA Dr Maya Kodnani for their involvement in the Naroda Patiya massacre of February 27,2002 which left 97 dead and 33 injured.
