NAAC team reviews MS University

The 11-member National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team started the review process at the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) on Monday as part of the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) re-accreditation procedure. Vice-Chancellor Prof Ramesh Goyal briefed the visiting team about the university.

On the first day today,NAAC teams visited the faculties of Science,Arts,and Technology and Engineering — three of the largest faculties of the university — where presentation were made on their achievements and processes.

The NAAC team is headed by Prof S K Saidapur,the V-C of Karnatak University,and comprises B S Madhukar,the deputy adviser of NAAC and nine others from various institutes across India.

In the previous NAAC review in 2001,the team had recommended increasing the intake of students in the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science and IT in the faculties of Science,and Technology and Engineering.

It had also suggested introducing faculty improvement programmes,teaching programmes in Physical Education,generating support for the Faculty of Adult Education,incorporating more job-oriented courses and bringing in examination reforms.
