Upcoming museum in Devbhoomi Dwarka to give a ‘Talk to Krishna’ experience

The Directorate of Archaeology and Museums is also planning to integrate sculptures found around Dwarka with the theme and story line of the museum.

By Janmashtami this year, a museum coming up in Devbhoomi Dwarka will show a “Vishwaroop darshan” (supreme form of Lord Vishnu) and give the visitor a “Talk to Krishna” experience, using Artificial Intelligence.

Director of Archeology and Museums, Gujarat Pankaj Sharma told The Indian Express that the immersive museum located some 1.2 kms from the famous Dwarkadheesh temple would be completed by June, ahead of the festival celebrating Krishna’s birth in August.

“Initially, the limit per visitor has been fixed at five questions. The software for the same is under process. Also, care is being taken on the privacy and data sharing issue. “There will be five to seven kiosks with headphones which visitors can use to speak with Krishna taking care of their privacy. Further, visitors will be informed that no recording or data will be stored in this section,” Sharma added.

The museum will give a 5D and 7D experience to the visitor through Lord Krishna’s life in Dwarka, Mathura and Vrindavan.

Dwarka is one of the temple towns with the highest footfalls in the state, recording 13 lakh visitors in 2023.

“ The Museum is based on the life of Krishna and aims to disseminate his teaching and philosophy to the world with use of modern technologies like AI and interacting and immersive engagements to convey the life and teachings of Krishna,” says Sharma.

The Museum will also have a dedicated section on teachings and significance of Bhagavad Gita in the present context. It will have nine galleries spread from ground floor to second floor to convey the life and teachings of Krishna.

Sharing details on the galleries, Sharma says, “The Bhagavad Gita section is dedicated with the purpose of making people understand the importance of Gita. Very few are aware about Gita and how it is important, the life management sutras will be presented in an easier way and how the gyan, bhakti and karma yog-the three principles of Bhagavad Gita are even relevant today. Everybody is stressed these days and their social life is disturbed. So, in the ‘Speak to Krishna’ section they can share their problems to which using AI they will get positive responses.”

One floor will be entirely dedicated to Krishna as a King of Dwarka and his teachings of Bhagavad Gita.

“The focus will be more on the authentic information of Bhagavad Gita along with its philosophy and not just imagination but with proof from scriptures. Also, focus will be on meaning, relevance and importance of different names of Krishna and Arjun in Gita like Keshav, Dhananjay, Bharat, Parth. Gyan, karma and bhakti shlokas with their Hindi, Gujarati and English translations along with detailed information on translations of Gita in different languages will be provided,” Prof Ravindra Kumar Khandwala, Head of Department of Sanskrit Prakrit at H K Arts College Ahmedabad who is one of the committee members for the section on Bhagavad Gita told this paper.

The Directorate of Archaeology and Museums is also planning to integrate sculptures found around Dwarka with the theme and story line of the museum. Further, videos and visuals of excavations shot under water will be a part of it.

The Museum will also have outdoor attractions such as special landscape showcasing multi-facets of Krishna (Dashavatar Exhibit), Lotus Pond, Light and Sound Projection, Amphitheatre and other visitor amenities. Deliberations on the final name for the museum is also underway.
