“We have so far learnt this much that cricketer was friends with the deceased. More details will be known in the investigation… We have not contacted the cricketer yet but we will send him a notice,” the ACP said.
Tania was found dead in her apartment in Vesu area of the city. According to her father Bhanwar Singh, who works in a textile factory at Pandesara, he found Tania dead when he went to wake her up on Monday morning. The model used to stay with her parents.
No suicide note has been found, the police said, which has registered a case of accidental death.
An officer said, “Tania Singh was probably in a relationship with the IPL player and for the last six months, the cricketer had not communicated with her. He had also blocked her phone number and did not respond to her messages on social media.”
Additional Commissioner of Police (Sector 2) K N Damor said, “The victim used to work in an event management company. She came home late at night on Sunday… We are going through her cellphone and checking her social media accounts. We have started calling those who had been in regular touch with her to find out why she took this step.”
