MICA student’s murder in road rage incident: Gujarat Police release sketch of suspect

The Ahmedabad Rural Police on Tuesday released the sketch of a suspect in the murder case of MICA student Priyanshu Jain. The 23-year-old died in an alleged road rage incident in Bopal area on Sunday night.
Jain, who was studying in the second year of the MBA course at MICA, was fatally stabbed by an unidentified man just hours after giving his measurement to have a suit stitched for impending job interviews. As it released the sketch of the suspect at noon on Tuesday, police assured anonymity to whoever could help identify the man who stabbed the student following an alleged altercation over overspeeding.

According to the FIR filed at Bopal police station at 6:30 am on Monday, the incident took place after 10:30 pm on Sunday, when the deceased and his friend Prithviraj Parakshitdas Mahapatra, 28, were returning to the residential educational institute on Sunday night.
After Jain, who was riding pillion on the bike, shouted at the driver of a car regarding his speed, the driver of the car turned around, and followed the two students.
Following a verbal exchange, the accused allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Jain in the back. Jain was rushed to Saraswati Hospital and from there to Zydus Hospital where he was declared dead due to excessive internal bleeding.
The unknown assailant has been booked under section 103(1) of the BNS for murder, as well as under section 135 of the Gujarat Police Act that deals with contravention of orders.
