Man shot dead in Jamnagar

A MONETARY dispute turned bloody in Veraval Jam village of Jamnagar district late on Saturday as two persons shot a man after an argument.

A MONETARY dispute turned bloody in Veraval Jam village of Jamnagar district late on Saturday as two persons shot a man after an argument. Farook Ibrahim (30) was allegedly shot dead by Namori Haji and Amad Haji around 10 pm,Jamjodhpur police said on Sunday.

The police said Ibrahim owed some money to Namori. On Saturday evening,Namori called up Ibrahim and told him that he wanted his money back and asked the latter to meet him at a place away from the village. Accordingly,Ibrahim and his friend Altaf Ravakada reached the spot where Namori was waiting for them with his friend Amad Haji.

“The four had an argument over money. Suddenly,Namori fired from his country-made gun,hitting Ibrahim in abdomen. Amad hit the victim with a wooden club,” Kishorsinh Parmar,in-charge Police Sub-Inspector of Jamjodhpur said.

After the firing,Namori and Amad sped away on their motorbike even as Ibrahim succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.

Police said the victim was a farmer and used to live on his farm alone with his estranged wife living with her parents. The assailants,too,are farmers. On the basis of Ravakada’s complaint,Jamjodhpur police have booked Namori and Amad for murder.
