Man held with cooker bomb

The police said that Rajendrasinh Jadeja (29),furniture trader came to the DCB police station saying that two unidentified men had come to Rajkot with Arif,his acquaintance in UP on Monday

THE Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Rajkot city police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly assembling a low-intensity pressure cooker bomb and then cooking up a story that terrorists had planted it in his bag.

The police said that Rajendrasinh Jadeja (29),furniture trader came to the DCB police station saying that two unidentified men had come to Rajkot with Arif,his acquaintance in UP on Monday. When he went to Ahmedabad to drop them the next day,he found that two men had planted a pressure cooker bomb in his bag and fled as he went to visit toilet.

Jadeja returned Rajkot with the bag and kept it in his shop in Mavdi area for a day and then informed police. DCB officials and bomb disposal squad went to Jadeja’s shop and defused the bomb.

“However,during questioning,Jadeja broke down and confessed that he had cooked up the bomb-planting story. He himself had assembled the device with gun powder,splinters and wicket of fire-cracker as detonator,” DCB Police Inspector Vishvarajsinh Jadeja said on Thursday.

“He further confessed that he had cooked up the bomb-planting story to make friends with police and intimidate a particular community which had a quarrel with him in his native village of Dhebachada on the outskirts of the city,” the officer further said.

DCB have arrested Jadeja and booked him

under Indian Explosives

Act and Explosive Substances Act.
