A 35-year-old man was sentenced to eight years in connection with a murder case of his wife’s colleague in 2010.

A 35-year-old man was sentenced to eight years in connection with a murder case of his wife’s colleague in 2010. The man was held guilty under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 302 (murder). However, the court showed mercy by altering the conviction under IPC 304 (2) that reads as homicide not amounting to murder. The judgment was pronounced late on Monday.

Public prosecutor Bharatsinh Rathod said Kanhaiyalal alias Krishna Solanki,a resident of Nava Vadaj, had murdered one Raju Desai in 2010 at a garment shop near Jodhpur crossroads in Satellite area. The victim and Solanki’s wife were working together at the shop.

Solanki was suspicious about their friendship. According to case details,on the day of incident,Solanki had gone to the shop and took his wife’s cell phone and asked Desai for his phone to look for the messages they had reportedly exchanged. It led to a heated argument between them and subsequently Solanki got hold of a scissor lying at the shop and stabbed Desai.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. Public prosecutor Rathod said other workers of the shop were examined as witnesses whose testimony proved that Solanki was the murderer.
