Less than 50% registrations recorded for engineering seats across Gujarat, lowest in last three years
The first round of admissions will be over on June 7.

The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) has recorded 40,049 registrations against 79,544 total engineering seats — the lowest registrations — in the last three years for engineering seats across Gujarat.
The first round of admissions will be over on June 7.
This is less than 50 per cent registrations against the total seats available for 2025-26. Looking at the trend of previous years, the final admission figures will be less than the registered numbers. On the last date of registrations, May 20 midnight, 40,049 candidates registered for a total of 140 engineering institutes, including16 government, three grant-in-aid and 121 private run. Despite an increase in the number of total seats available — by around 5000 — this year, the registrations have dropped. On the possible reasons behind the drop, ACPC member secretary N N Bhuptani told The Indian Express, “The number of students who cleared Class 12 with Science stream are less this year. Against the 41,000 students with 45 per cent and above (the eligibility for ACPC application) this year around 40,000 students are in this category. This has resulted in a marginal difference of registrations this year.”
In 2023, 40,176 registrations were recorded against a total intake of 71,759 seats across 137 engineering institutes. The previous year, 41,642 candidates registered against 77,531 available seats in 138 institutes. Against these registrations 32,818 and 41,639 were converted into admissions in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
