As Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat addressed the state assembly on Thursday on the first day of the 23-day Budget Session, Opposition leaders found a special mention in his speech. “I am grateful to the all respected members and especially our brothers in Opposition. I requested them to let us fulfill our constitutional responsibilities together. They accepted my request and I express special gratitude to them,” the Governor asserted. His remarks were understood to have been made to draw a contrast with the disruption in Parliament during the Winter Session that led to the suspension of over 140 MPs.

In his address, the Governor also praised the state government, initiatives like the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Gujarat has become a place to fulfill the dreams of millions and crores of people. This image of Gujarat has not been made overnight. This is the result of a journey of development, which started with ‘Souno Saath Souno Vikaas’ two decades ago by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi,” he asserted.

The Governor further said, “A small seed of Vibrant Gujarat was sown two decades ago in 2003, and has now become a banyan tree. The 10th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit inspired by the Honourable Prime Minister’s vision was successfully held with an unprecedented public response between January 10 and 12 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. ”

As a part of the pre-summit events and the main summit, more than 150 seminars and events were held,” he stated.

Meanwhile, he also undnerlined that Dhordo village has “become a global identity of tourism”. ‘Dhordo Ranotsav’ started by the state government in 2006 has become a big support for social, economic, and environmental uplift in the rural life of the Kutch, he said.

On G20, he underlined, “The huge success of various 17 meetings held in Gujarat is credited to ‘Team Gujarat’. We have created a unique image of Gujarat by completing G20 meetings with very good planning. From now onwards, Gujarat will be chosen to host such a huge event with timely and time-bound planning,” the Governor stated in his address to the House.
