The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has offered seats to 391 candidates for its flagship Post-Graduate Programme in Management. About 11 per cent of the total seats have been offered to woman students,IIM-A Prof Diptesh Ghosh said.
A bulk of the seats has been offered to engineering students (369),followed by science (12),Commerce (nine) and Arts (one) student. Prof Ghosh said the actual number of seats on offer is 385,adding that the excess seats will serve as a buffer,as many students opt out later.
He said there is a waiting list of 30-40 students.
The break-up of seats in terms of reservation is 182 for general,104 for non-creamy OBC,58 for SC,29 for ST and 12 for differently-abled.
The selected candidates will have to accept the offers by May 17 and the classes will start in June-end.
There will be preparatory classes in maths,communication and computer applications for weak students starting May-end,Prof Ghosh added.
