Unseasonal rain, thundershowers, heatwave: IMD forecast for state this week
For Monday and Tuesday, the weather department has issued a "heat wave warning as conditions are very likely to prevail in Porbandar district of Saurashtra".

Gujarat is set to witness a mix of unseasonal rain, thundershowers and heatwave in the coming week. While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of light rain accompanied with thundershowers for several southern districts, along with a few districts in Saurashtra, a heatwave alert was issued for Porbandar for Monday and Tuesday.
For Monday and Tuesday, the weather department has issued a “heat wave warning as conditions are very likely to prevail in Porbandar district of Saurashtra”. The forecast also read: “Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 30- 40 kmph (in gust) accompanied with light rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Narmada, Tapi and Dang”
For Tuesday, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rain with thundershowers likely at isolated places in south Gujarat districts like Chota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi and in the districts of Saurashtra namely Amreli and Bhavnagar.
Also, for Wednesday, there is thunderstorm warning, which read: “Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind less than30-40 kmph (in gust) accompanied with light to moderate rain very likely in the districts of North Gujarat region including Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar; in all the districts of South Gujarat region Vadodara, Chota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi and the districts of Saurashtra namely Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath and Botad.”
However, on Thursday, light rain with thundershowers will be limited to Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Narmada and Tapi, the weather department stated, adding that the remaining districts of the state will see dry weather.
For temperature forecast, a rise of 2-3 degree Celsius in the maximum temperatures is expected till Friday, with no major change in the minimum temperatures.
On Sunday, Rajkot recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 40.9 degrees, followed by Keshod at 40.2, Porbandar 39.7, Vadodara 39.6, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar at 38.8, Deesa 38.4, Bhavnagar and Bhuj at 38.2, Kandla Port 37.9 and Naliya at 37.4 degree Celsius.
