The last regular chairman of GSSSB was BJP leader and former MLA Asit Vora who had resigned from the top post months after the question paper for the recruitment of a head clerk was leaked in December 2021. Candidates for the recruitment examination and opposition parties had been demanding his resignation over the issue.

After Vora’s resignation, additional charge of the top post was given to senior IAS officers. Immediately after Vora’s resignation, the additional charge went to the then Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of GAD A K Rakesh. Currently, the post is held by ACS of GAD Kamal Dayani.
