Gujarat gears up for PM Modi’s visit
He is expected to arrive in Vadodara in the morning and will proceed to Dahod and inaugurate a locomotive manufacturing plant and also flag off an electric locomotive

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his two-day Gujarat trip from Vadodara on Monday. He is scheduled to attend a number of public events while inaugurating or laying foundation stones for various developmental projects worth thousands of crores.
This is the Prime Minister’s first visit to his home state after the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on terrorist bases in Pakistan in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22.
He is expected to arrive in Vadodara in the morning and will proceed to Dahod and inaugurate a locomotive manufacturing plant and also flag off an electric locomotive. PM Modi will then lay the foundation stones and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around Rs 24,000 crore in Dahod while also addressing a public function.
The locomotive manufacturing plant will produce electric locomotives of 9000 HP for domestic purposes and for export. The locomotives will help increase freight loading capacity of the Indian Railways. These locomotives will be equipped with regenerative braking systems, and are being designed to reduce energy consumption, which contributes to environmental sustainability.
The other projects include rail and state government projects. PM Modi will also flag off a Vande Bharat Express between Veraval and Ahmedabad and an express train between Valsad and Dahod stations.
Later in the day, PM Modi will travel to Bhuj in Kutch district to lay foundation stones of and inaugurate multiple development projects worth over Rs 53,400 crore, as per an official release from the PIB.
The projects from the power sector include transmission projects for evacuating renewable power generated in the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, transmission network expansion, ultra super critical thermal power plant unit at Tapi, apart from projects of the Kandla port and multiple road, water and solar projects of the Gujarat government.
The Prime Minister will then proceed to Gandhinagar and spend the night at Raj Bhavan. On Tuesday, he will participate in the celebrations of 20 years of Gujarat Urban Growth Story and launch Urban Development Year at Mahatma Mandir, where he is also scheduled to address a gathering.
In 2005, as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Modi had launched the Urban Development Year initiative with the aim of transforming the state’s urban landscape through planned infrastructure, better governance, and improved quality of life for urban residents. To mark 20 years of the Urban Development Year, Modi will also launch the Urban Development Year 2025 — Gujarat’s urban development plan — and State Clean Air Programme in Gandhinagar. Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple projects related to urban development, health and water supply that include the third phase of Sabarmati Riverfront.
The PM will dedicate more than 22,000 dwelling units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He will also release funds worth Rs 3,300 crore to urban local bodies in Gujarat under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, the PIB release also stated.
During his two-day stay, PM Modi will carry out three road shows — one each in Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
