Gujarat Confidential: Name Change

The Gujarat Olympic Planning and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GOLYMPIC) which was formed late last year to manage the developmental projects and coordinate activities related to bidding and hosting the Olympics in Gujarat has been “discreetly changed” to Gujarat Sports Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDCL) recently. Officials privy to the development revealed that after an objection raised from the International Olympics Committee (IOC), the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Gujarat Olympic Planning and Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (GOLYMPIC), established under the Companies Act, 2013 by the Gujarat government has been changed to a not so similar sounding name.
