Gujarat: 250 teachers aspiring for govt jobs detained during protest, later released
The candidates had cleared the Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) and Teacher's Aptitude Test (TAT) and were protesting to press for their various pending demands

Around 250 candidates aspiring for the government job of teachers were detained by Gandhinagar police on Monday after they staged a protest near Pathikashram in the state capital.
The candidates had cleared the Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET) and Teacher’s Aptitude Test (TAT) and were protesting to press for their various pending demands, including the completion of recruitment process of government teachers.
It is mandatory to clear TET to get recruited as a teacher for classes 1 to 8 in government and grant-in-aid schools. Similarly, clearing the TAT is mandatory to get recruited as a teacher for classes 9 to 12 in these schools.
Gandhinagar District Superintendent of Police Ravi Teja Vasamsetty said that they detained around 250 protesting candidates who were released by evening.
