Goods train crushes five to death

Five people were killed and three were critically injured when a speeding goods train mowed them down at the Vapi railway station on Monday. The injured were rushed to Haria Hospital in Vapi.

Five people were killed and three were critically injured when a speeding goods train mowed them down at the Vapi railway station on Monday. The injured were rushed to Haria Hospital in Vapi.

According to railway sources,the Bandra Patna Express train chugged into platform no 1 of Vapi station at 6.51 pm. Upon seeing a huge crowd trying to board the train,some passengers tried to cross over to platform no 2 when a goods train hit them.

The police have started a probe to identify the deceased. The Bandra Patna Express was later allowed to continue its journey to Patna.
