GCCI executive body election to be held on July 28

The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has started the election process for its new executive body for 2012-13.

The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has started the election process for its new executive body for 2012-13.

Nomination forms will be distributed from June 25. The last day to withdraw nomination has been fixed for July 9.

The election will be held on July 28 from 10 am to 4 pm. It will be followed by an annual general meeting of the Chamber. The ballot-count will be held on July 29 morning and the result will be declared the same day according to the GCCI election schedule. The schedule also stated that the GCCI committee appointed former chief secretary P K Laheri as the returning officer for this election.

The Chamber president Mahendra Patel,senior vice-president Prakash Bhagwati and vice-president Shankarbhai Patel’s tenure would end at the annual general meeting this year.

Sources in GCCI say that while the senior vice-president will take over as president,there will be a keen contest for the posts of senior vice-president and vice-president.

Senior members Dr Mayur Desai,and executive committee members Samir Patel and Trilok Parikh have emerged as likely contenders for the posts.
