Gandhinagar varsity professor found dead

A professor of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya was found dead on the residential campus of the university late on Tuesday night. Professor Maheshchandra Sharma, 72, was  found dead with multiple stab wounds at his residence at Kadi Pharmacy Campus in Gandhinagar. So far, the Gandhinagar district police have not found any lead in the case. A complaint was filed by his grandson, Aviral Bajpayee(22), at Sector 21 police station.

Aviral told this paper, “I had gone to Ahmedabad at noon. When I returned around 11.30 pm, I found a crowd outside my house.  I saw my grandfather’s body lying in a pool of blood and reported to the police.” He ruled out his grandfather having any “enemy”.

Aviral had come to stay with his grandfather five years ago, said the police. Sharma had only one daughter, who lives in Dubai with her husband and Aviral is their only child.

Sharma’s wife passed away a few years ago and he was living alone till Aviral came to stay with him.
