Five youths of Bheskhatri village assaulted the Range Forest Officer of Ahwa at his official quarters on Monday morning,accusing him of having an affair with a local woman.
According to the police complaint lodged by Nagindas Parmar,Range Forest Officer of Bheskhatri village in Ahwa taluka of Dangs,one Posli Jadav,a resident of Godadia village in Ahwa taluka came to his house to seek permission for cutting teak trees planted by her family in her ancestral land.
The police said Poslis relatives arrived at the place and found her in Parmars room. They accused Parmar of having an illicit relation with Posli and assaulted him with sticks and fled from the spot.
A severely injured Parmar was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Ahwa where his condition is stated to be out of danger. The Vaghai police have lodged a complaint against Bhupat Gamit,Shanker Gamit,Subhash Gamit,Jagdish Gamit and Pankaj Gamit,all residents of Bheskhatri village,in connection with the assault.
Sources said Poslis husband Pandav was working as a beat guard in Parmars range. He died a few years ago,leaving behind his wife and two unmarried daughters.
Incidentally,Poslis daughter Alka (20) had handed over an application to the Vaghai police station
two days ago,alleging that Parmar called her mother regularly.
Ahwa Circle Inspector Sunil Patil said: We suspect that some illicit relationship might have led to the incident. We are carrying out investigations and searching for the assailants.
